Indian Wells 2012 Men's Singles Draw ⇢

The BNP Paribas Open main singles draw was released earlier today and for the second time in 2012 Roger Federer is on the half of the draw as Rafael Nadal, and Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic have been placed on the same side.

After receiving a bye in the 1st round Roger Federer is set to meet the winner of Dmitry Tursunov vs Denis Kudla in the 2nd Round of Masters 1000 event. In the 3rd round Federer could potentially face Milos Raonic or Carlos Berlocq. In the Round of 16 Roger Federer’s possible opponents are Gael Monfils and Juergen Melzer. In the Quarterfinals Roger Federer could play David Ferrer or Juan Martin Del Potro. Possible semi-final opponents for Roger are Rafael Nadal and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, which could potentially lead to a final against Novak Djokovic or Andy Murray.

Roger has arguably hardest quarter in this tournament, but knowing Roger he will pull through! The first round of the main draw of Indian Wells, which is considered the biggest ATP tournament which is not a grand slam, begins on Thursday the 8th of March in California! Best of luck Roger, keep your great run going!

Roger Federer defeated Andy Murray 7-5 6-4 in the Final at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships! He just won his 72nd career title and his 5th title in Dubai! Roger has only lost 1 match since after the US Open 2011, and tonight was his 102nd Final! Congratulations Champion!

Day 12 of the Australian Open

Today is the day the second last Men’s Single match of the first grand slam of the year takes place, the second Men’s semi final is set to begin in about 1 hour.

  • Novak Djokovic vs Andy Murray

Novak Djokovic goes in to this match as the favourite, but I will be rooting for Andy Murray all the way for this match. Today’s match is a repeat of last year’s Australian Open final, which Djokovic won in straight sets, although since then Murray’s form has improved a substantial amount, with the help of Ivan Lendl . It will be an interesting one to watch.

I kind of check out of tournaments when Roger is out of them (I mean, I don’t care about the results as much) but the Australian Open is my favourite tournament and I will hang around and try to cheer for Andy in this numb post Federer loss state. Who is your pick to win?

Fab Four

I can’t believe I saw all four of them in person.

Hey, I had my last day at Melbourne Park for 2012, and I miss it already. :(

  • I watched Sara Errani vs Petra Kvitova in Rod Laver Arena
  • Straight after I watched Ekaterina Makarova vs Maria Sharapova, and during the match someone in the crowd yelled ‘GO RUSSIA’ and it was really hilarious, (or maybe I was just delirious from the sun). Both of those matches were pretty straight forward, which was kind of disappointing because I would have really liked to see them go all the way to three sets, but the players I was rooting for won.
  • I watched Andy Murray vs Kei Nishikori, and the crowd during that match was fantastic (it was the same crowd the whole session but everyone really fired up during that match). I am happy that Andy got through, I was really just going for the man that I thought would stand a better chance against Novak Djokovic.
  • After the second set of Murray-Nishikori, I left Rod Laver Arena to go to Court 17 because Roger Federer was scheduled to practice there at 5pm, a huge crowd started to form around the court and everyone waited and waited but Roger never showed up. :( Then a member of the staff came and told us that Roger wasn’t coming because he was going to practice on a closed Rod Laver Arena (with Rod Laver) instead.
  • And then I missed the end of Murray-Nishikori because I was waiting for Roger. :(
  • But i met a lot a really nice Federer fans while we were all waiting.
  • Oh and I met Martina Hingis!!! She was practicing on Court 16 when I walked over there, and after her practice I got her autograph, and we asked her if she would be playing mixed doubles in the Olympics with Roger and she said “no, it’s too much for me”. :(
I wish I could have met Roger yesterday, so much. But maybe it is better that I didn’t because I would have passed out and died. When I saw him practicing the other day I was stunned, and if he came any closer to me I wouldn’t be able to control myself. I have a flight back home today at 6pm, which gets me home in time for the FEDAL SEMI-FINAL.

Hi! I just came back from the Australian Open, and I have so much to write about, but I can’t write it all down in detail right now, so here is a summary of my day in point form.

  • I watched Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka practice.
  • I got Rafael Nadal’s autograph and shirtless pictures of him 4 metres away from me.
  • I got Victoria Azarenka’s autograph.
  • Andy Murray, Maria Sharapova and Novak Djokovic all did not stay around after practice to sign autographs, so I couldn’t get their’s. :(
  • I was walking around with the sign I made for a while, and a middle aged woman, who was a Djokovic fan, walked passed me, and read it, then said: “haha, greatest of all time, NOT ANYMORE”, and then she glared at me and I ignored her because she was really rude and I didn’t want her to ruin my day.
  • Around Rod Laver Arena they have pictures of champions who have won the Australian Open before, and two little toddlers who were brothers were looking at Federer’s picture from Australian Open 2006. And the younger one said to his brother ‘look he is crying’, and then the older one said ‘it’s because he is so happy’, and I thought that was really sweet.
  • I watched Hewitt vs Djokovic in Garden Square and the atmosphere was incredible. The crowd, including me, in Garden Square were cheering for Hewitt like crazy, and we could hear the spectators in Rod Laver Arena right behind us cheering at the same time.

Now, tomorrow, I have day session tickets to Rod Laver Arena, which YES, DOES MEAN, THAT I GET TO ROGER FEDERER’S QUARTER-FINAL MATCH AGAINST JUAN MARTIN DEL POTRO LIVE. I didn’t see Roger at Melbourne Park today because he didn’t come today, he did some interviews and took the day off, but I get to see him play live for the first time ever tomorrow, so nothing else matters.

I will post pictures of my Australian Open experience as soon as I get home! I hope you all had a very happy day!

Australian Open 2012 Draw ⇢

The official draw of the 100th Men’s Championship at the Australian Open 2012 was announced this morning. For the first time since 2005 Roger Federer was drawn on the same half as Rafael Nadal, putting Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray in the other half.

Roger Federer is set to play a Qualifier in his 1st Round match of the grand slam, starting in 2 days. In Round 2 Federer could either meet the world number 96 from France, Eric Prodon, or the world number 93 from Germany, Andreas Beck. In the 3rd Round Federer’s possible opponents are Jurgen Melzer and Ivo Karlovic. Federer’s potential Round 4 opponents include Alexandr Dolgopolov or Fernando Verdasco. In the Quarterfinals of the major Federer could face Mardy Fish, Florian Mayer or Juan Martin Del Potro. This could all lead to a Semifinal clash with Rafael Nadal.

I’m very proud to be qualified once again for the World Tour Finals. This is my 10th time in a row so it’s very exciting. A  great group of guys have qualified in the singles and the doubles. It’s nice to have this party as well tonight it’s something different and new for us, and there is a great cause to the whole event. I’m very happy to be here. - Roger Federer at the World Tour Finals Gala 2011
